Aaron Allison, Eric Bowling, Willie Burnett, and Jonathan Robin will be featured in ThisIsBracketRac

ThisIsBracketRacing.com is proud to announce the 2011 APD Member Spotlight participants. These four TIBR members were chosen from a large list of applicants to participate in this special program. Each of these spotlighted members will present a monthly blog for ThisIsBracketRacing.com. These blogs will be available to all visitors to the website (this portion of the site is FREE, you do not have to be a TIBR member to view the APD Member Spotlight pages).

“The APD Member Spotlight Program is a really cool feature for ThisIsBracketRacing.com,” said Luke Bogacki. “It will give a handful of our members a great opportunity for some well-deserved exposure, and the program will help market our website to racers who don’t know much about it. It’s a win-win. The difficult part on our end was selecting the 4 participants. We had nearly 100 applications, and all of them came from racers who would do an excellent job. The four we selected will provide some great reading, no doubt. We look forward to continuing the program in 2012 with four new members.”

In return for their monthly feature on TIBR, each of the four spotlighted members will be receiving a fantastic prize package courtesy of Advanced Product Design, and the program’s supporting sponsors. Each of these four racers will receive:

(1)APD Carburetor Conversion
(1) Nitroplate Header Coating
(1) J&J Engine Diaper
(1) Annual Subscription to ThisIsBracketRacing.com
(2) Cases of K&N Oil Filters

The 2011 APD Member Spotlight Roster Includes:

Aaron Allison: East Palestine, OH / Boston, MA
Aaron has been involved in the sport of drag racing his entire life, and began driving in Jr. Dragster competition in 1997. He’s enjoyed a great deal of success in IHRA Stock and Super Stock competition (he’s a 3-time Division Champion and has multiple top-ten national finishes). In May, Aaron will graduate from the Harvard Business School (Yea, that Harvard) with his MBA. Last summer he worked as a marketing manager at Matco Tools, where he was offered a full-time job. He has accepted that position, but he has three months off between his graduation and the time he starts the full-time position at Matco. Like many, Aaron has long dreamed of drag racing full time, and this window of opportunity will allow him to do just that. He has a full schedule planned and will spend his summer pursuing major NHRA and IHRA events in pursuit of divisional and national titles. He’ll detail the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to chase his dream, as well as the financial details of his pursuit on ThisIsBracketRacing.com.

Eric Bowling: Bloomington, IN
Eric may be the most accomplished bottom bulb racer that competitors outside the Midwest don’t know by name. He races (and wins) a lot. In 2010, Eric earned 21 event wins in 24 final rounds. Eight of those victories came in just half as many events; as he won both the Pro and Super Pro categories at the same race on four separate occasions! Eric put 612 runs on his venerable ’69 Camaro last season alone. He is a 9-time track champion at a handful of Indiana facilities, and he’s a two-time IHRA Summit Super Series Points Champion. In 2008, he earned the $5,000 top prize at the Ohio Crankshaft No Box Nationals. Eric’s no-frills approach to competition features a 200,000 mile truck, open trailer, and race car. Racing is a family outing for the Bowling’s, as Eric’s wife also races a 1980 Firebird. This season he’ll continue his annual pursuit of multiple track championships and compete in the NHRA Division 3 E.T. Finals. Eric plans to attend a handful of big buck No Box races like the No Box Nationals, the JEGS Doorslammer Open, and more. He’ll detail his 2011 exploits on ThisIsBracketRacing.com.

Willie Burnett: Olathe, KS
Willie is the epitome of the weekend warrior bracket competitor. Though he was brought up around cars, he wasn’t introduced to drag racing until his best friend talked him into taking his Vega Station Wagon street car to the track as a teenager. He’s befriended some of the top racers in his area, and jokingly claims that he only races to provide them with comic relief and stand in their winner circle pictures. He currently races a 2004 Undercover Dragster in Super Pro and Top Dragster along with a ’78 Malibu back-half car in Pro, No Electronics, and Super Street competition. In 2011 he’ll chase the track championships at Kansas City International Raceway and Heartland Park Topeka, as well as the CDRA series title. His success within those events will determine the remainder of his schedule, which could include one or two of the marquee big dollar bracket races. Willie is a longtime TIBR member who has a passion for the sport and a unique and thoughtful perspective he’ll share with readers of the APD Member Spotlight.

Jonathan Robin: Luling, LA
Jonathan is the rookie of the collection of APD Member Spotlight members, having just seven years of racing experience under his belt. Though he traveled with his father, who worked on the Top Alcohol Dragster crew for racers like Bubba Sewell and Darrell Russell, Jonathan wasn’t introduced to bracket racing until late in his teenage years. He credits that awakening to legendary gulf coast competitor Jerry “Thriller” Virgadamo, who let Jonathan make his first runs in his 3-cylinder Geo Metro! At 26 years of age, Jonathan is a father and he and his wife Brandi are expecting a new addition to their family in June. Jonathan currently races a 2003 Undercover Dragster in Super Pro competition within the King of the Coast Series, Cajun Super Series, Super 7 Series, and in weekly local events. Jonathan has been a TIBR member since it’s inception and is extremely active and involved in the sport on several levels. He’ll share his 2011 experiences with the TIBR audience as a featured member of the APD Member Spotlight.

Each of these APD Member Spotlight participants will post their introductory blog on April 20. Be sure to visit ThisIsBracketRacing.com to follow their exploits monthly throughout the 2011 season!

At season’s end, ThisIsBracketRacing.com members will vote one of the above racers “ThisIsBracketRacing.com Member of the Year” based upon their success, improvement, and the content their monthly blogs. The year-end Member of the Year will be awarded the following prize package:

3-Day Entry to the 2012 JEGS US Open Bracket Championships
FTI Torque Converter of Choice
Milodon Drag Race Oil Pan
$500 Labor Certificate to Huntsville Engine & Performance
