And the winner is... JEREMY MCKAGUE!

Carterville, IL: For a second consecutive season, Advanced Product Design and ThisIsBracketRacing.com combined to host a unique program: The APD Member Spotlight on ThisIsBracketRacing.com. All ThisIsBracketRacing.com members were encouraged to submit a resume to participate in the APD Member Spotlight, and the TIBR staff was bombarded by nearly 100 subscribers who did just that.

From those applicants, the field was narrowed to four yearlong participants: Jason MacNeil, Nick Shepherd, Lindsey Cramsey, and Jeremy McKague. These sportsman racers from various corners of North America participated by posting monthly blogs to ThisIsBracketRacing.com throughout the 2012 season. Their blogs presented TIBR members and visitors alike with useful, educational, and often amusing storylines from the trenches of sportsman drag racing. In return for their commitment, each of the four spotlighted members received a prize package courtesy of Nitroplate, K&N Engineering, J&J Engine Diapers, ThisIsBracketRacing.com, and of course Advanced Product Design. APD provided each of the spotlighted members with a carburetor conversion (converting their existing piece to a custom APD gas or alcohol carburetor).

In addition, the four participants were eligible for a season ending bonus, in which TIBR members would vote one of them “Member of the Year.” That honor, in a close race separated by less than 10 votes, went Jeremy McKague, of Chamois, MO. McKague is the 2012 ThisIsBracketRacing.com Member of the Year and joins 2011 winner Willie Burnett as the only two racers to earn the distinction. McKague entertained TIBR members and visitors alike throughout the 2012 season with a series of blogs detailing his season; which included weekly stops at local and regional events as well as some of the biggest bracket races in the nation. McKague’s hunger for competition was evident, as he competed in everything from $50,000-to-win bracket events in a dragster that he and his brother, Jason share, to various events in which he entered box and no box (and occasionally Footbrake) categories with his Cavalier roadster. On his “off” weekends, McKague often found his way to tracks throughout the Midwest behind the wheel of various machines, including a Geo Metro, in which he entered Footbrake, Street, and Trophy categories. McKague arguably enjoyed the most successful season of any of the four 2012 spotlighted members, highlighted by a $10,000 victory at the World Super Pro Challenge in Stanton, MI and a runner-up finish in a $20,000-to-win event at the U.S. Open Bracket Championships in Bowling Green, KY. He also accomplished the rare feat of running himself in the final round of a $5,000-to-win event in Tulsa, OK. Those finishes catapulted McKague to a top 50 finish in the annual BTE Power Rankings on ThisIsBracketRacing.com.

Despite his success on some of the biggest stages in sportsman drag racing, McKague continues to compete at all levels of sportsman drag racing, as evidenced by his record in the Geo and other street driven vehicles. On the season, McKague made 501 runs and appeared in 22 final rounds! McKague capitalized on his success and made light of his failures in his popular blog, which was a season-long favorite among TIBR readers.

For earning the 2012 Member of the Year crown, Jeremy will receive an incredible prize package that includes: a 3-Day entry to the 2012 JEGS U.S. Open Bracket Championship, courtesy of event promoters Mike Fuqua and Dave Szerlag; a set of pistons courtesy of Wiseco Performance Products; a Milodon oil pan, pump, and pickup courtesy of the longtime performance manufacturer, a $500 Dedenbear gift certificate, and a $500 labor certificate courtesy of Huntsville Engine & Performance.
